How I Met the Love of my Life
The date was June 10th, 1956. I was 15. My friend Lorraine and I had been for a walk in Bowring Park, St. John's. We left the park around 3:30pm and started walking. When we got to Penney's Garage (opposite to where the Mary, Queen of the World school now stands) a United Bus came along. It was crowded, even people standing in the aisle. After a while, some people got off. Then Lorraine got a seat. A few minutes later someone else got off, and I got a seat. I sat beside this man I didn't know. We chatted. By the time we got to Foxtrap (our hometown), I could tell he liked me! And I liked him! We courted 5 1/2 years and then got married. We have three wonderful children, give grandchildren, and one great grandchild. It's been 62 years. We are still together, still in love. We have had a great life. Gordon is now 84, I'm 77.
