Honeymooning in Peru
My husband and I were married on August 2, 2014 just outside our small town of Theodore, SK. We wanted to go some place different for our honeymoon. So we chose an adventure into the Amazon Jungle. On November 10, 2014 we flew to Lima, Peru, then hopped on another plan over to Puerto Maldonado, where our tour guide met us. We then went on a primitive boat ride up the Tambopata River to our first destination at the Tambopata Ecolodge.
It was quite a beautiful spot. However, we spent one night there, then hopped another boat the following day to venture further up the river to spend the next two nights sleeping in tents in the actual jungle. We spent a few days hiking around various trails to sight seeing at the Famous Clay Licks, where hundreds of Macaws and other birds and animals congregate to eat everyday on the actual clay.
We got to see many types of trees, some were over 450 years old. The funniest tree which we saw time after time was the exotic Palm tree, or as the locals call it- The Penis tree. Everyday I took my newest issue of the Downhome magazine with me, looking for the perfect shot to pose. I have included 3 pictures which I hope are not too adult only for printing in your magazine.
We did get to spend 2 more nights relaxing at the Eco Lodge before returning to Canada. If ant of your readers are looking for their next great adventure, we highly recommend visiting the Tambopata Eco Lodge just outside Puerto Maldonado, Peru.
Submitted By: NULL
