HMS Hood Visits Newfoundland

HMS Hood, one of the world’s largest battleships, visited Newfoundland in Sept 1924. She anchored off Topsail, Conception bay, and was visited by many citizens during her stay (Ref: The Newfoundland Quarterly, Vol 39, no 4 (March 1940). Attached is a family photo taken aboard the vessel An uncle of mine, George Smith is shown third from left.
