Graced
The cultural icons of this Rock,
Are e’er displayed on stage and dock,
Their wares infused into us all,
Ensures our talent stands so tall.
Originators of the arts,
Lend voices, clear, in foreign parts;
Authors of this dear domain,
have kept the faith, and so remain.
Entrusted with this kingdom’s keys,
Ambassadors of our whim and breeze;
These artists etch their efforts, best,
Whene’er they wend their way out west.
Not that we expect blind faith,
Nor rapt attention to the wraith;
Too much of that has gone before,
A sore-spot on our storied lore.
The legacy that they so portray,
On canvas, in a special way,
Or, with the word, in song or book,
That usually earns, a second look.
Celebrating culture’s class,
Is like the element in the Mass;
Communion of the gathered souls,
Is graced by those on honour rolls.
This great galoot has stubbed its boot,
In every nook and cranny’s root;
Its tentacles touch those far and near,
But, never felt, no more, than here!
