In 1929, this organ (pictured) was purchased by Elsie and Nathaniel Goodyear, Sr. of Lumsden, Bonavista North, N.L. The Goodyears were expecting the organ to arrive from St. John's after a short voyage to the port in Newtown, Bonavista North. However, Job Barbour, his crew, the passengers and cargo on the Neptune II (a sailing vessel) encountered treacherous weather conditions: high winds, waves and snowstorms. The vessel drifted across the Atlantic for 48 days and landed in Tobermory, Scotland. The Goodyears' organ and all on board the Neptune II eventually arrived safe and sound in Newtown after a long voyage back across the Atlantic Ocean. At present, 85 years later, this organ is in my Lumsden family home. I visit there regularly and the organ still works.   Submitted By: NULL
