Goodwill Ambassador
On a trip to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2004 to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary at Battle Harbour, we had the pleasure of meeintg an amazing "Goodwill Ambassador" of your wonderful province. Her name is Carla Rumbolt, daughter of Tony and Laura Rumbolt of Mary's Harbour. As we boarded the boat that would take us to the island, Carla, a very mature 11-year-old, introduced herself to me and my wfie. She entertained us with stories about her province, her community, her school, and Battle Hrb. The highlight of the ride was when Carla volunteered to sing the "Ode to Labrador" which we discovered was set to the same tune as "Oh Christmas Tree" and to which our state song "O Maryland, My Maryland" was sung. She ended our concert with a beautiful rendition of the Cormier's "Moving Away." Carla is a true example of the very special people of your province. Having been in NFLD on Sept. 11, 2001, we have come to expect aring, comfroting and acommodating individuals. Carla is certainly one of your youngest goodwill ambassadors. You folks must be doing something right! Submitted By: NULL
