from There to Here
From Where to Where
Can we really comprehend
The awesomeness of what has passed
From that first synthesis of our universe
To this current state of our being cast
Thirteen million years in the making
Is it to us really clear
The span of time this represents
And how we got from there to here
And what has intervened between
Our ancestor of one sixty thousand years ago
Homo sapiens is the label
Currently assigned to our kind below
Our ability to put the pieces
Of the puzzle into place
Accelerates exponentially
With the passage of time and space
We cannot grasp where this will end
Outside our knowledge sure it lies
And all we know is that for us
The end will come with our demise
So I feel it should suffice
That we be comfortable in our space
Within the scheme of things unfolding
Within our place in the human race
