From My Father’s Kitchen Window
From my father's kitchen window
in our house upon the hill
let me tell you of the beauty
in the sights above the sill

The buttercups and long blade grass
as far as the eye could see
some may see it as, just old weeds
but it meant the world to me

To the left I could see the church
a little lower, my school
to the right was the paper mill
heard the whistle , that was cool

Straight ahead was my Nanny's house
I could smell the bread baking
hanging patchwork quilts on the line
or floor mats she was shaking

Though our house it was no mansion
and its contents were not grand
I was blessed beyond good measure
on that awesome piece of land

Memories from my childhood
as days came to an end
from my father's kitchen window
there were splendid colour blends

Seemed each and every evening
God would paint a masterpiece
He painted the sky just for me
His great love has never ceased Submitted By: Wanda Peddle
