Friends Meet After 52 Years – Now
On Sept. 11-13, 2009, the Canadian Guards Regimental Association, Atlantic Branch, held their annual reunion at the Royal Canadian Legion in Clarenville, NL. There were some 160 people in attendance, including about 80 members of the Association.
Among those attending were Clem Lambe of Marystown, and Percy Price of Ottawa, Ontario. Back in 1956, these two gentlemen went through Basic Training together in Pettewawa, Ontario. They also served with the Fourth Battalion Canadian Guards at Camp Ipperwash, Ontario. They became separated when the Battalion was disbanded in 1957.
Lambe served 3½ years in the Military and returned to civilian life, while Price became a career soldier. The two friends didn't see each other for the next 52 years, when they were very happy and surprised to see each other at last weekend's reunion. Many thanks to Bernie and Sue Skehan and the organizing committee for a great reunion. Hope to see everyone again at next year's reunion in Oromocto, NB.
