For Grandfather
"One day while I was walking I saw him on the road He smiled at me and told me ""Up further was a toad"" We walked hand in hand together to the muddy little pond We saw the toad just sit there while he sang his ribbitty song Above the birds were singing I heard a small dog bark the crickets joined the chorus as it started getting dark ""It's time we should be going"" I heard him gently say ""Back to my house for cookies, I'm sure we'll find our way"" Together in the kitchen with cookies, milk and tea The table housed the game of choice ""Oh will you play with me?"" His checkers game was skillfull He knew I could not win But still he loved to challenge me and always with a grin We'd sit and play for hours there's so much I have learned Spending time with my Dear Pop We were so unconcerned The years have passed so quickly It seems like such a blur Oh how I wish I could go back Yes,that's what I'd prefer But Time has played it's cruelest hand And Death has won this round My Grandfather now is gone Where Love and Hope abound So someday when I join him there I know he'll smile and say, ""I'm red this time so you go first, Looks like my lucky day"" " Submitted By: NULL
