Foggy Fireworks
Every year, the town of Grand Bank has a summer festival that coincides with Regatta Day. On the Wednesday that the boats race in St. John's, Grand Bank has races in its wharf. Later that night, they celebrate with a fireworks display. For 2025, instead of the first Wednesday in August, the races and fireworks were a week early due to St. John's hosting the 2025 Summer Games. Because of wildfires elsewhere in Newfoundland, a fire ban nearly stopped the fireworks, but permission came through. However, it was foggy by 10:00 pm so not all the fireworks could be seen clearly, but the lights refelcting off the fog made for dazzling display nonetheless. There were moments when it seemed the whole sky glowed in surreal colours as if the Northern Lights had appeared. Standing near the grounds of Grand Banks Seafoods (a division of Clearwater), these fireworks were filmed via smartphone, scrutinized, pinpointed to the right moments, and screencaptureed to create these pictures.
