First Annual Newfoundland Day in Maine
The First Annual Newfoundland Day was held at an Irish Pub - the Black Bear Cafe in Naples, Maine. It was a fun time with lots of Newfoundlanders from all over New England. Many have known each other for years mostly through the annual Newfie Picnics, but some new friends were made. This fun time was complete with a Newfoundland menu. The Screech-in was a big hit. Dancing a jig and the appearance of mummers were also favourites. The Squid Jiggers sang Newfoundland & Irish songs. One Newfoundlander who came from Connecticut located a long-lost friend whom she had not seen in 50+ years, which was very touching. The next Newfoundland-related event in this area will be the Annual Newfie Picnic on July 30 to be held in Lisbon, Maine. FMI contact Daphne Izer 207-240-3788 dizer@roadrunner.com.
