We are transplanted Newfies in northern Ontario. My husband is an underground miner, so we have moved around quite a bit; but wherever we live, we have to have a wood burning stove. There's no heat like wood heat! Our nextdoor neighbour from Ontario was not pleased with the heat in his house, so my husband talked him into putting a wood stove in his basement. The neighbour bought a truck load of birch firewood, sawed it up and packed it in a pile in his backyard, which he covered with a tarp. It was the next spring, as I was on our back deck and he was on his, that I asked him, Newfie style, "How did you find the wood this winter?" (Meaning, was he pleased with the heat.) His answer was, "I found the wood easy. It was right here in my backyard."   Submitted By: NULL
