Ferry Ride
"it is somehow different when you travel by water… you sit in the lounge chair of the main passenger deck… of the ferry… looking out the window at town lights that stand out boldly against a background of complete and unrestricted blackness… and very slowly the vessel leaves port. it rumbles very noisily and you are somehow left with a realization that this is a special journey… no longer are you simply moving… but you have the sense that you are leaving something behind… which is different than driving on a highway seeming to go on forever… here there is a beginning and an end the beginning that hasn’t begun yet… the ending that is now beginning… and as the lights of the town disappear, out of this picture in your life… you take a deep breath and think… about what it is that you’ve departed from… and where exactly this ship may be carrying you… " Submitted By: NULL
