February’s Days
In February's bitter grasp the land,
was held ice-bound at winter's stern command;
The mercury crouched down so far below
and from the nor'west, gales of wind did blow
The battycatters were thick upon the shore
from earlier days when spray froze more and more
Then slob ice made far out into the bay
made by the nor'west wind these many days
Though daylight hours increase with passing days
the sunny days are rare, it's mostly grey
It seems like winter may forever stay
and spring seems far away here in the bay.
