Faith the Snail Charmer
Six-year-old Faith Pickersgill, from Marathon, ON, on her first visit to Newfoundland. She just loved picking snails from between the rocks at Sandy Cove, Eastport. We cleaned them for her to take back home. She would not keep any that were alive, only the dead ones.
I taught her to sing to the live ones: "Snail, snail come out of your shell The cows are in your garden," & believe it or not, they do come out. It's so cute to see them. Then she would put them back in the water.
She was visiting Auntie & Uncle.
