Edger and Martha Nicholes
A picture of my grandparents, Edger Charles Nicholes, and Martha (nee Hulan) Nicholes. Edger, son of George, was the first settler of Nicholsville. Martha died in 1918, leaving behind four little girls: Viola, Harriet, Laura, Bertha May. She was a young woman of 32 years old. Martha and daughter Bertha sleep together in their own plot, with Bertha at her mother's feet. Martha died in the influenza outbreak that took so many lives in 1917-1918. Edger remarried and had seven girls, 2 sons, one of which was adopted. Ray still works the family farm, raising a few sheep and cows. Thought this beautiful picture was worth sharing with you.
