Edgar and Martha Nicholas
This is a picture of my grandparents, Edgar Charles Nicholas and Martha (nee Heelan) Nicholas. Edgar was the son of George - first settler of Nicholsville. Martha died in 1918, leaving behind four little girls: Viola, Harriet, Laura and Bertha Mary. She was a young woman of 32 years. Martha and daughter Bertha sleep together in their own plot, with Bertha at her mother's feet. Martha died in the influenza outbreak that took so many lives in 1917 and 1918. Edgar remarried and had seven girls & two sons, one of which was adopted. Ray still works the family farm, raising a few sheep and cows. Submitted By: NULL
