Dog and Pony Show
The dogs of fame, who took our name,
are rated, great, just like the Dane;
a perfect pet, and friend, well-met,
their gentle nature, both, to blame.
The Newfoundland, our old, sea-dog,
a comfort in the wind and fog;
the Labrador, achieves its place,
as it retrieves, with speed and grace.
They, with our pony, do us proud,
as they stand out in any crowd;
such hardy breeds, as is our bent,
along with even-temperament.
Thus, once unleashed upon the world,
these gentle beasts, their fame unfurled,
made well their way, in heart and home,
wherever since, they chose to roam.
