The 41st Corner Brook Winter Carnival takes place from February 17-26, 2012. This year marks a significant milestone for our mascot, Leif the Lucky. For 20 consecutive years the work of Leif the Lucky has been carried out by volunteer, Mr. Dave Elms. In 2005 Dave and his wife Sandra (also a long-time carnival volunteer) introduced the Leifling contest to the Corner Brook Winter Carnival. The Leifling contest is open to children in grades Kindergarten to Six . Contestants appear before a panel of judges in a homemade Viking costume. They answer questions from the judges and they demonstrate their sword-fighting skills against Leif the Lucky. The winner of the contest, the Leifling, joins Leif at many events and activities that take place during our 10-day carnival. Thanks Dave for your distinguished volunteer service.
