December Memories
To whom it may concern: Congratulations on your December Issue - it certainly stirred up memories of my childhood, memories so lovingly spent in Grand Bank. In my 80s, I travel down memory lane more and more, and cherish those memories - they were the best of times. Recalling sleigh bells ringing, sledding down Dulcie Butt's Hill, skating on the pond in the cove and Hec Stoodley's rink if you had a quarter, window shopping as the stores were open at night, and going home proudly with a few pennies spent - no fancy wrapping paper; we made our own and so proudly shared with loved ones. Thank you also for Burin pictures. I was christened in that church in Collins Cove, which is still vibrant. No pork roasts for us - mutton - and surrounded with love.
