I work on the Vision for Marine Atlantic so I get to meet many people who know very little about our province, that makes this story even more amazing. Photos included are of my wife Paulette Parsons with the Downhomer and the Marine Atlantic version at the Daytona track and our new friend JUDY HALLSTON of New Smyrna Beach Florida, Sitting next to Judy at the race we struck up a conservation imagine my surprise when she said that she knew a NL race driver. She was at a breakfast place in New Smyrna and saw a group of people talking about racing, wearing racing hats. when she heard the word Nascar, she went over and started a conservation with them. It was Josh and his crew, they were racing at new Smyrna that weekend. Since she had nothing to get an autograph one of the crew said to the other here give me your hat and Josh signed it, they also told her if she came to the track that night to tell the lady at the gate she was mom Collins and they would come get her. For 3 nights she was in the pits with them, including one night when it got cold. One of the crew took the pickup truck and parked by the fence so she could watch the race and not get cold. She was overwhelmed by their gesture. She also thinks of herself as an honorary Newfoundlander. I did not have any screech to seal the deal. All this considered there were 170,000 people there and I sat next to her.   Submitted By:
