Daylight savings time was originally introduced in the NFLD Assembly by the late Mr. John Anderson and became known as Anderson Time. A story was passed on to me by my late father Bursey who was a very good and close friend of Mr. Bill Joyce. One day Mr. Anderson was in his store at Cross and Co. (in St. John's) dressed up in his black overcoat, bowler hat, spats etc, when a lady came in. The conversation went something like this: "Good afternoon madam." "Hello sir." "Well, what do you think of our new daylight savings time?" "To tell the truth Mr. Cross, that John Anderson! I wish the devil had him. He's ruined the whole country!" I guess she didn't know she was talking to Mr. Anderson of the daylight savings time fame.   Submitted By: NULL
