Got me cod, b’y,
nice size and all;
can have me fish fry;
‘twas quite a haul!

On the water, out in boat,
many others, so afloat;
happy faces, pleased as punch,
catching dinner; scattered lunch.

Can’t imagine a better time,
throwing out the hook and line;
hauling in a decent batch,
‘til I got me quota -catch.

Five is plenty for a feed;
anymore would be sheer greed;
good part of it is for the fun,
upon the water, rain or sun.

Hope there is enough for more,
to catch again, in bay, near-shore;
and if we don’t abuse this right,
we might be ‘lowed another bite!
