Christmas Tree
In forest glade the fir tree slumbered,
covered by the winter snow;
And in his being was one with nature,
saw the seasons come and go
Round about its kindred fellows,
likewise waited without sound;
For some way they sensed within them,
a special season would soon come
It waited with the expectation,
that it would be one to share;
In the joy of Christmas morning,
with human family round it there;
In a human home with happy faces,
a celebration of Christ's birth;
And be a part of special memories,
such a honor would be worth,
the sacrifice of years of growth,
to be there and be a part,
of the spirit of the season,
and see the joy within all hearts.
And then one day into the clearing,
came a man and little boy;
He felt the axe deep in his being,
as he sensed a deeper joy
And on that special Christmas morning,
in all his beauty he was there
When the human family gathered,
in the joy of Christmas he did share
And knowing that it would be granted,
only once within his span,
Gave his sacrifice more meaning,
for he was one with God and man.
