Changes
Our old wood stove sometimes would burn
Until its dampers they turned red.
The oil lamps they were blown out,
Before we went to bed.
The water that we carried in
Froze solid in the bucket
It was a hard old way of life back then
But sometimes we would love it.
Today we just turn off the lights
Then jump right into bed
Get a drink from the tap as the
Water comes running in
Our heat is controlled with a thermostat
We can put it on high or low
Put a thermal blanket on our bed
With no worries of the snow
A lot of things in my life have changed
Since I was a little boy
Playing on the cold floor in our house,
With a homemade wooden toy.
