Another picture of a great family adventure - a salmon fishing trip on the northern tip of Vancouver Island near the small town of Holberg. Holberg is very close to Port Harvey. The largest was 32 pounds and the smallest was 21 pounds. We fished in the ocean but always very close to the land (15-25 metres) for safety reasons. There is a considerable difference between salmon fishing there and salmon fishing on the east coast of Canada. The rods that we used were much shorter and much stronger than the ones used in Atlantic Canada. Also, we used a three-way hook and anchovies for bait. In addition, we used a 10 pound lead sinker to get our line down in the deep water. These were the biggest fish that we ever caught, and we had a super and very exciting family adventure of a lifetime.   Submitted By: NULL
