CastAway Collection . . .Home to Crocheted Treasures & Cherished Heirlooms
I am so excited to finally “open the doors” to my newest labor of love. I have been crocheting for 10 years and absolutely love it. I don’t use patterns and I just love seeing my ideas come to life in the most beautiful ways. I am based out of Torbay, Newfoundland, Canada and it is no surprise that inspiration for my shop name came from living so close to the wonderful Atlantic Ocean. I wanted to connect my work to my home with each collection piece being named after a part of our sea-bound culture.
My love for crocheting came from the most unexpected place, at work. At that time, I was in university completing my bachelor degree in social work and was employed at a woman’s shelter in Iqaluit, Nunavut. The women at the shelter crocheted together and during this time shared their most personal stories and journeys. These women reached out to include me and taught me how to create the most beautiful treasures. I have been addicted ever since. I have continued working towards creating social justice for all as a social worker and have recently convocated with a master degree in social work here at Memorial university of Newfoundland.
But right now, as mother to two beautiful children, I am inspired to create specialty items that families will treasure for year to come; items that will become a part of a family`s memories. I design classic pieces with a modern twist that are perfect as photography props, as gifts, and just make each day oh so special. My pieces are also full of charm and whimsy and are the perfect specialty item for any decor.
My pieces remind me of my grandmother, of a hot cup of tea, and of snuggles under a granny square blanket – all crafted with love with memories. This is the feeling I want to share with my customers; this is where my inspiration comes from.
You can find my items currently for sale on Etsy, the world’s online marketplace for handmade and vintage items. Don’t forget to check back often as you never know what I will create next!
Thank-you for visiting with me and please contact me with any questions! I would love to hear from you and would love to create any vision you have for a crocheted treasure. And keep in touch for latest special promotions, deals, and giveaways!
Sincerely yours,
