Came Back Talking Like a Newfoundlander!
It’s been three weeks now and my son Cale is still responding “Yes b’y” to everything
I keep saying “by the Lord dyin' and a thunderin’ gee”
It’s funny how I can go right back to my community’s slang
Each area has their own different twangs
It’s me Mudder and me Fadder now all over again
The "THs" are dropped when I step off the plane
I love listening to all our own music that our musicians sing
Some of it Irish back when the settlers did bring
My mind keeps playing a "Rich Man’s Garden" and a "Grey Foggy Day"
Over and over in my mind as a man in Winterton for us did play
I love to speak and hear our own native tongue
It will be passed on forever by the old and young~
