Butch <br /> <br /> The pup he came into our home<br /> To cheer us on our way<br /> But he to Uncle Art became<br /> Much attached, to our dismay <br /> <br /> A Cocker of the grandest style<br /> So sleek and black and true<br /> But sure he knew no love from us <br /> Which made him awful blue<br /> <br /> But Art would come by every day<br /> To be with kin was in his mind<br /> In deafness seeking love from us<br /> Which we returned in kind <br /> <br /> A bond was born between the two<br /> Inseparable it seemed, to me and you<br /> For Butch he found in Art, no doubt<br /> A love so faithfully true <br /> <br /> When I would pass Arts home down town<br /> Butch would be sitting there so smart<br /> In foulest weather just waiting for <br /> One small pat from master Art<br /> <br /> We sought to bring him back to home<br /> But t'was futile on our part<br /> For each and every time we tried <br /> Faithfully he would return to Art<br /> <br /> For Butch it seemed was well tuned in<br /> To Arts infirmity from the start<br /> And as so often we see this happen<br /> An animal will seek to play his part<br /> <br /> Thus we lost our dog to Art<br /> But we were happy to know at last<br /> A bond of friendship was engaged<br /> And never broken until Butch passed. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
