Re-arranging history’s facts,
Will only push it through the cracks;
Just because we don’t like “Newf”,
We cannot make it just go “poof!”

Derogatory, that to some, it be,
It was a fact, we must agree;
Negative, or not, we’ve got
It as our honorable history.

For, after all, the Yanks were here,
And there’s no point crying in their beer;
Because they called us Newfs and such,
Or, other names, we don’t like much.

Of course, there is a compromise,
That still might not win any prize;
Nix the Newfie from the phrase,
But keep the “Bullet,” lend it praise!

The formal name is just too plain,
And doesn’t fit our naming fame;
It goes quite well with Heart’s Delight,
Or Jerry’s Nose, or Lushes Bight.

To most of us the Bullet lives,
And many pleasant memories gives;
Sure, ‘twas slow as you know what,
But, hey, you know, it’s all we’ve got!
