Brigus Hills
The squarish house lies nestled still
Beneath imposing Brigus Hills
A little stream meanders through
To lend an air of magic thrills
For there in childhood once we played
And frolicked in the knee-deep grass
Amid the purple, white and green
We dreamed of things to come to pass
And in that stream we cast our line
The dry flies leaving each a wake
To break the mirrored surface clean
Enticing lazy trout to take
On hazy summer days we'd go
To swimming in the all-together
Oblivious to the gazing eyes
And wishing it would last forever
But now the place is gone to ruin
Wild grass it's fields has over run
So sad to see what sheer neglect
And forty years of time have done
It was my parent’s pride and joy
A haven to each burdened soul
If now they could but see the place
It would on them take quite a toll
Neglect and age has taken toll
And saddened both their hearts full sore
And lost to us the place we loved
Till they would speak of it no more
Now they are gone to their reward
And maybe from those distant rills
They both gaze down on things that were
Beneath imposing Brigus Hills
