Boyhood Superman <br /> <br /> Remember those days when Superman<br /> Was for us kids in everyones plan<br /> Touted everywhere you went<br /> On those comic books our money we spent<br /> <br /> I knew a lad just up the tracks<br /> Who took the fad right to the max<br /> He had his mother a costume patch<br /> With large S symbol and cape to match<br /> <br /> And in the evenings he would dash<br /> Down our lane making quite a splash<br /> Leaping high into the air<br /> With cape a flowing everywhere<br /> <br /> And we as young lads at that time<br /> Were so impressed with his antics fine<br /> We wished we all could do the same<br /> But mothers never acquiesced to that game<br /> <br /> Now we have grown and so has Superman<br /> He is no longer a part of our plan<br /> That lad has long since grown to man<br /> But dream about it he still can<br /> <br /> As head of a department in a college hereabout<br /> And well respected by his colleagues no doubt<br /> His minds eye still casts back in time<br /> To those simple joys of a boyhood sublime<br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br /> <br /> <br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
