Boulder Builder
The enclosed photo was taken by my wife, Carol Schafer, in August 2005. The house shown in the photo is located on the west side of Highway 463 in Mainland on the Port au Port Peninsula, Newfoundland. Driving past this house we were impressed by the amount of time and effort it took to create this whimsical display. The components of the border as well as the sculptures are made of individual rocks and boulders carefully piled up and then painted white and red.
Among the sculptures on the left side are a nativity scene and a large heart; on the right are a family of snowmen (snowpersons?) and some individual snowmen, among others.
I'm sure our fellow readers would enjoy seeing such a unique display.
