Big Push Home for Christmas
This is a picture of a group of 14 Newfoundlanders who live on an isolated Native reserve called God's Lake Narrows in Manitoba, where they work as teachers. We were trying to get home for Christmas, and the plane we were to fly to Winnipeg would not move because its wheels were stuck. We were told that if we pushed the plane its wheels would free up. We were going home so push the plane we did. The guy under the plane by the wheels is the pilot. We did get it free and by golly we did get home for Christmas. Imagine the adventure and the nerve to get on that plane and still fly to Winnipeg. The wheels could have frozen again but you're not keeping this bunch from going home.
Some of the teachers in the picture are Audrey Barnes, Marystown, NL, Anne Tarrant, Glovertown, NL, Nellie Noseworthy, Pouch Cove, NL, Gord Butt, Botwood, NL, Owen Nichols, Botwood NL, Roseanne Russell, Stevenville, NL.
