Berry Picking
This is a picture of me and my family berry picking. I remember when we would get up a 6 a.m. on a Saturday morning with Dad and walk an hour or more to pick berries. We would sell them and buy our books for school. Many times we got caught in rain, but we still would get our buckets full before Dad would let us go home. I'm sitting on the berry box; I think I'm about 16. We would have to get a couple of gallons before Dad would do the boil-up and dinner. But we really enjoyed the salt fish in tin foil thrown on the fire. As you can see in the picture, we are passing the Jam-Jams around. Then, before each season was over for the blueberry and partridgeberry picking, we would pick our supply for the winter's jam. Ida Paul (nee Crewe), formerly of Bonavista, NL Submitted By: NULL
