Benfield’s Motel, Daniels Harbour – 1964
Monday, Nov. 2nd, 1964, Daniels Harbour. This is the really nice hotel we stayed in at Daniels Harbour, and this was the view we saw when we looked out the window Monday morning on our way home. There was no snow when we went to bed, but there was a good 4 to 8 inches at 7:30 next morning. We waited until several trucks and cars had gone ahead, followed them and finally came home - safely, but had an interesting time getting over the height between Woody Pt. and Domond Road.
A photo we came across that depicts an adventure my grandparents - P.G. & Nellie Tipping - went on with Alex & Lillian Myrden (all from Corner Brook) in Nov. 1964. After deciphering the scribble 'Pop' Tipping wrote on the back of the photo, I wonder if "Benfield's" is still operating. Benfield's Motel is in Daniels Harbour. Picture taken by P.G. (Percy) Tipping; the P.G. Tipping Trail in Gander is named after him. We visited in the summer of '07 - Great!
