Hello. My name is Sandra Smith. I currently live in Kentucky, USA but I’m from Gander, Newfoundland. Last fall I had the privilege of visiting Beaumont-Hamel as well as several other Canadian war monuments, including 5 of the monuments on the Trail of the Caribou. I brought along my July 2016 Downhome magazine that I received through a subscription from my sister Cyndi. It contained a very interesting article about Alan Hawco and Mark Critch’s journey through France, Belgium and Turkey to see the Trail of the Caribou.  I was able to replicate the photo they took on their visit.
