Bazzing Rocks <br /> <br /> Now what you may ask do you mean by bazzing<br /> It's an olden time term from the land of our origins<br /> That came here with ancestors from another shore<br /> And you may never ever have heard it before<br /> <br /> Now bazzing it means to hurl with gusto<br /> And usually it refers to rocks or stones<br /> Collected with care from the shoreline<br /> A game of my childhood, a favourite of mine<br /> <br /> That childhood game t'was fun no doubt<br /> We boys of yore were always at it<br /> On ocean edges or on pond shore<br /> All we asked was to do it more and more<br /> <br /> For what was more challenging than bazzing rocks<br /> As far as one could over surfaces calm<br /> The challenge was there as you finished your hurl<br /> Keen to impress that fine neighbourhood girl<br /> <br /> Instead of just lounging here in my chair<br /> Now if I could I would love to go back<br /> To those wonderful happy days of my youth<br /> Instead of here sipping on burbon or vermouth<br /> <br /> I lately have noticed a slowing of pace<br /> For sure I am not what I used to be <br /> For the age is upon me of that there's no doubt<br /> Now I'm dealing with rumatiz, dymentia and gout<br /> <br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
