Battleship Backstory?
Taken in August 1947. I was a guest of NFPA and Bowaters and we were given a tour of the above battleship. She was anchored in the Bay of Islands not far from Corner Brook. (I guess too large for dockage in Corner Brook.) I believe she was the HMS Sheffield, which was involved in the sinking of the Bismark, later sold to Argentina and sunk during the Falklands War. I do not know what she was doing in Newfoundland at the time. (Maybe a courtesy visit since Newfoundland at that time was a British colony.) I would appreciate any information you or your subscribers can provide. Submitted By: NULL
