Back When Soft Drinks Were Ten Cents Each
In the early 60s a ten ounce Bottle of Coke a Cola cost ten cents.
Drinks only came in two sizes ,Six and a half ounce Bottles and ten ounce.
We had a drink called Spur, same colour as Coke and it came in Twelve ounce bottles.
Also we had a Brand calledKeep Cool The Ad said”Look for the White Seal and Keep Cool.”
Scottie Potato Chips and Dulac were five cents a bag.Candy and Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum were a penny each.
Did not matter we had no money anyways. Then we had Pink popcorn with the prize inside,My cousin would buy it just for the prize.I would get the Popcorn which I thought was a good deal.Chocolate Bars were ten Cents each.
Then Premier Joe decided to put a two cent Tax on Soft Drinks and Bars.
I suppose nowadays It is called a Sugar Tax.
Uncle Vince the Shop Keeper would say ten cents for me and two cents for Joey.
They were called Shops before Places such as Needs Groceries and Foodland came around.
I remember a kid came to the Store when the New tax was implemented and said.
“I would like a ten cent bar .How much are they?”
That is all for now Folks.
