Autumn’s Mackerel Sky
Autumn's Mackerel Sky I wandered lonely as the clouds Those rounded puffs, long rows up high that tells me summer has passed by Those autumn clouds, a mackerel sky Upon the hills just me alone in autumn sunshine, crisper days A nip in early morning air to tell that summer's gone away The alders and the aspen trees they have long turned from green to gold Their leaves among the spruce and fir so colourful now to behold Soon autumn wind will make them drop to make a carpet on the ground Where they will turn from gold to brown and autumn winds blow them around Soon there will be more grey than blue when from the hills I gaze on high And contemplate the heavens above those autumn clouds, a mackerel sky Submitted By: wayne taylor
