A Whale of a Shot
This picture was taken in the early thirties at Rose Au Rue, Placentia Bay. An employee of Newfoundland Whaling Co., name unknown. A couple of years ago I had a marvellous visit to St. John's and enjoyed a sea voyage down the coast, courtesy of my nephew, Charles Anonsen, who brought me to "Rose Au Rue," formerly a whaling factory in the early '30's. I enjoyed an exciting summer with parents and siblings in 1931 or 1932. I've hit 80 this year and I think there are few in the photos who are still with us. I was 11 or 12 years old at the time.
