A painting of the SS Eagle
Herb Carter brought this painting into the Downhome office recently. His sister-in-law, Sarah Carter (nee Martin), passed away in August 2015, and some relatives found this painting while they were sorting through her attic. They gave it to Herb. The painting originally belonged to William Martin, Sarah’s father. He was a fireman on the SS Eagle in 1936. No one remembers who painted it, though, and Herb would very much like to find out. Anyone with information on the ship or the possible painter is asked to please contact Downhome. Email editorial@downhomelife.com or call the editorial department toll-free at 1-888-588-6353.
