A New Kind of War
I wrote many poems this past winter about events that occurred. These poems included one about the major snowstorm in January 2020 (Snowmaggedon). Others included poems about the pandemic which kept us all inside for a few months. I have always enjoyed writing poems and this year, with so much news about the Coronavirus, it made my writing much easier. I hope you all enjoy reading this one. Stay Safe. A New Kind of War (Written: March 20, 2020) Our forefathers served their country They fought in wars one and two They traveled overseas To bring freedom to me and you. They didn't ask any questions They just answered the call They said it was their duty To protect one and all. Now we fight a different war The enemy we cannot see It came in the form of a virus That travels from you to me. It's killing many people Young or old, rich or poor No matter what your colour, It's just outside the door. Now WE need to serve our country And all we need do is stay at home We'll say when this is over We fought a good fight and were never alone.
