Submitted January 26, 2007 The boat is named the Gil Eannes. It was a Portuguese Hospital Ship and came into St. John's with the fleet for supplies, etc. Usually at the end of the season the boat was painted with Matchless Paint obtained from Standard Manufacturing on Water Street. This would be about 1958 - 59. My husband Gilbert worked at Standard Manufacturing at that time. There was a lot of pride taken in the beautiful white boat.   Submitted By: NULL
