"when i awake each morning the first words that i say are ""thank-you, god, for giving me another lovely day."" when i open up the curtains, it's the sun i hope to see, but if there are only grey skies, it doesn't matter much to me. i see beauty in the rainclouds and in the swirling snow. to watch them with my family means more than you can know. i've learned real appreciation for the most important things. i'll never take for granted the blessings each day brings. picking flowers from our garden, tomatoes from the vine, harvesting potatoes, hanging clothes upon the line. they've become life's little treasures, no longer seen as chores. thank-you, god, for giving me another day in your great outdoors. and thank god for my family, who gave me the will to live, and helped me keep on fighting when i had nothing left to give. my treatments are all over so i'll say another prayer for those who are still fighting, ""god, keep them in your care."" let them feel your arms around them and hold them close to you. let them know that they are loved and supported by us too. i've finally stopped wondering, ""will i see another year?"" god knows what is best for me and drives away my fear. so when the evening darkens and the sun sets in the west, i once again give thanks to god for always feeling blessed.
