"i am writing to relate a small story that happened to my sister katie & myself when we were small, living on the point in rose blanche as everyone knows back in the old days just about every family had kept chickens for eggs & meat, in those days grocery stores weren't on every corner. well my mother charlotte curry had her chickens too, but mom had a favourite little chicken , me & katie we out playing one day & we happened to step on moms faourite chicken causing his guts to spill out of him. being this young we really didn't know what to do. we couldn't tell mom we thought she'd kill us. so we did the very next best thing. we sewed him back up. thats right katie went inside the house & got a needle & thread & sewed him up. it was a hard old go but it had to be better than facing mom. after doing this believe it or not the chicken lived. mom for about the next week said her chicken was moping around & that he didn't look the best. but he pulled through with flying colors. i guess to this day mom never knew. but the strangest thing was katie sewed him up with black thread & the chicken was all white. i guess someone was watching out for us that day. we lived to tell the story."
