"the open line radio talk shows have become an ingrained part of the newfoundland lifestyle after years and years. it is political at times, incredibly funny at other times, and gives the people a voice in a province whose geography is so vast.recently my friend was driving to st.john's from clarkes beach and she always has the radio tuned to the open line in the morning. a woman, who obviously had waited for quite some time, finally got her chance to speak.after saying she had waited for an hour she launched into her subject matter with the shows' host. then right out of the blue she says loudly ""hang on now bill b'y, i got a beep"" and left the shows' host with dead air!technology is great, but doesn't always get used correctly,as in her case. bill, the shows' host, never lost for words, that is until that happened!!it took him a minute or so to recover, and caused many a laugh for his listeners."
