"It`s summertime, the year is 2000, and I am using the city bus in Yellowknife, NT. A child, perhaps four years old, is sitting on one of the sideways seats directly in front of me. She is quite enjoyable to watch, bug-eyed and looking everywhere, obviously thrilled to be riding on the bus. I realize it is one of her first trips when, after watching person after person leave, she turns, points at the chord for signalling next stop, and asks, ""If you pull that thing, do you get kicked off."""
